The Prison Lawyers’ Association and Girls In Canadian Criminal Defence (WICCD) are criticizing the arrest of a Toronto-centered lawyer near an Ontario Progressive Conservative campaign halt in Hamilton past Thursday.
“We are alarmed that any citizen, permit by itself a member of our occupation, would be dealt with by police — seemingly on behalf of an elected official — with these disregard for the electoral system and the appropriate to workout no cost speech. Sa’d said past week she tried to enter a rally for Laptop Chief Doug Ford close to the Hamilton airport. She explained she RSVP’d to attend the occasion, but employees did not enable her within and they called the police on her for trespassing.

Sa’d and the group that arranged the protest said that wasn’t true. They said she was not element of the group protesting and was arrested well right before any protest occurred.
Sa’d reported she thinks she was not allowed entry into the celebration and was inevitably arrested because of her criticism of Ford and other political leaders. She has a big social media presence for her cartoons and films that criticize politicians and folks protesting general public health actions.
On Monday afternoon, Hamilton law enforcement released a “clarification,” saying Sa’d was questioned to depart the event and when she did not comply, she was arrested, introduced off house and fined for trespassing.
