EDMONTON, AB – The provincial federal government has introduced laws aimed at modernizing justice legislation in Alberta.
If the Justice Statutes Modification Act, 2022 is handed, the housekeeping amendments will update the Corrections Act, the Justices of the Peace Act, the Lacking Individuals Act, the Victims of Crime and General public Protection Act, and the Youth Justice Act.
Proposed modifications include streamlining the appointment course of action for justices of the peace, clarifying the processes for law enforcement operating lacking folks conditions and trying to keep provincial legislation in line with variations to Canada’s Criminal Code.
Alberta’s Minister of Justice and Solicitor Basic Tyler Shandro claimed, “as periods improve, it is vital for justice-linked legislation to stay latest and helpful.”
